SF Technic Ltd was formed by Craig Sampson and Craig Fleming.

Power Train Technologies USA (PTT)

PTT was formed in 2002 by Steve Fox. Steve has over 35 years of experience in the racing industry. His passion for racing goes back many years. Steve began working on cars at age 11, was drag racing by age 16, and achieved a great deal of notoriety while honing his mechanical skills.

While employed as a CNC machinist at a local machine shop he quickly moved up to managing their CNC department. At the same time he put himself through college at night, majoring in mechanical engineering. His background in auto racing, CNC machining and mechanical engineering gave him a unique set of skills that ultimately played a significant role in his future endeavors.

In 1984 Steve signed on with Quarter Master Industries (QM) to oversee manufacturing. Less than a year later he implemented QM’s first CAD system (AutoCad). Steve used this new tool to springboard QM into a new era of product design and manufacturability. By 1990 he was responsible for engineering, product design and manufacturing. He oversaw the design and development of their clutches, flywheels, bellhousings, driveshafts, and all other products. In Steve’s sixteen year tenure with QM, he was involved with almost every aspect of the business from the shop floor, to business systems, and design engineering. As of August 2001, all products in the QM catalog were designed and developed by him.

In March 2002 Steve saw an opportunity to further advance racing clutch design and formed PowerTrain Technology. PTT was established as an engineering and manufacturing based company, dedicated to exceeding customer needs. PTT is dedicated to designing, engineering and manufacturing cutting edge, racing driveline components. All of the products are designed to give our customers the competitive edge they need – at a competitive price. PTT will carry out its mission using whatever tools are necessary to keep it at the forefront of engineering excellence and manufacturing quality, backed up by good old fashioned integrity.

Craig Sampson

From as far back as I can remember I have always been interested in how and why things work, often sketching out my own designs to see how I could modify or build something new. This progressed through all stages of my education and I would work in the evenings after school at a rolling road which carried on whilst I was studying for a HND in Motorsport Engineering at Brooklands College. This work environment enabled me to get a great appreciation for club Motorsport and the efforts that customers go to not only in building their cars, but also funding them. As a rolling road we were often the last job on the list before race day and often the first ones to load the engine and drivetrain up to its maximum. Unfortunately it wasn’t uncommon to find a few items that had been scrimped on and subsequently failed costing the owner far more in the long run.

I continued with my education via Kingston University to achieve a BEng in Motorsport Engineering and again throughout this period I maintained a part time paid role in Motorsport to gain valuable first hand experience in the industry.

I progressed to a full time role in 2005 as a Motorsport Design and Development Engineer, varying from hands on work with development engines, CAD modelling, prototype machining and technical support.

My first season in a Competition car was in 2008 and since then I have driven various forms of high power circuit cars with circa 600bhp per tonne. With the vast majority having been installed with PTT Clutches I really can talk about the product we represent with first hand experience which I feel is very important and not always available via other suppliers.

Having raced at all levels of Motorsport for 27 years starting in Karting through to International Level in British Formula 3 and more recently in Blancpain Endurance with Strakka Racing, I understand the importance of a product that doesn’t let you down and the great feeling of winning. Importantly I have also competed in a lot of National level circuit racing (using PTT Product) and more recently rallying, funded largely out of my own pocket and using equipment prepared by my family so I understand the importance of a quality product that provides value for money. I don’t profess to be an engineering genius (other Craig is the man for that) but this also means I have had to rely on manufactures and distributors to understand my needs and provide the right guidance, which frustratingly hasn’t always been forthcoming. Forming SF Technic with Craig Sampson with the primary focus of bringing the superb PTT Product to Europe in a professional and reliable manner was a great opportunity to work in the sport that I love.
